Rising from the ashes

Once every 500 to 1000 years, the bird Phoenix rises from the ashes of its nest, reborn, with renewed strength. You cannot kill it, it is incomparably strong. We know it from Egyptian history and visual art, in the Nordic countries we adopted it in the 12th century and mention it after defeat or misfortune.

After adversity, a person must rise and fight back or perhaps renew yourself, this can happen many times throughout life. The lgbtq+ population is particularly exposed to hardship and confrontation. In this series, a number of different stages are visualized, transitions, metamorphoses. In the transition towards the new, infinite tension is released. Do we face something better or worse, do we avoid repeating previous mistakes and can we keep cool or are we caught in negative spirals?

As long as we are moving we are on our way, the ashes have erased all traces, new adventures await.
